The Dignity in Menstruation (DIM) Project addresses the critical issue of menstrual hygiene management among girls and women in Nigeria. Period poverty and stigma continue to keep girls out of school, and DIM is our answer to this challenge.
Through education, product distribution, and community sensitization, we ensure that menstruation is no longer a barrier to education and opportunity.
Key Activities
- Menstrual hygiene management (MHM) training sessions — Teaching girls about menstrual health, hygiene practices, and myth-busting
- Distribution of reusable menstrual products — Providing sustainable, eco-friendly menstrual products to girls in need
- Community sensitization to break menstrual taboos — Engaging community leaders and parents to end stigma
- Advocacy for WASH facilities in schools — Campaigning for girl-friendly toilets and water access in schools
- World Menstrual Hygiene Day events — Annual events to raise awareness and celebrate girls' health
Impact
The DIM Project has reached over 2,000 girls and women across 30+ communities in Nigeria. Over 5,000 reusable menstrual pads have been distributed, and school absenteeism due to menstruation has decreased significantly among our beneficiaries.
